    Struggling with the fillet

Dear all, I am taking my first steps with A9CAD and trying to get the fillet function to run. I have two lines that end in the same point, and I want to give the joint a radius. So I click on the fillet icon, then on the first line (which turns dashed), then on the second line (which turns dashed), then I type a radius, enter, nothing happens. When I manually draw two intersecting lines, I (sometimes) do get a fillet, but I can't seem to predict in which of the four quadrants it will show up. Can someone try to come up with an educated guess what I might be doing wrong, or, even better, a sequence of foolproof instructions to get to the right result? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Matthias

    Re: Struggling with the fillet

Wow, this color scheme mad it really tough to find the reply link. I have found that the fillet command depends on how the line was placed in the drawing. So sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I've found that trimming the lines where you want to fillet them will help sometimes in getting the fillet command to work.

    Re: Struggling with the fillet

It took me ages to fathom this out. It appears that fillet will not work with lines that are touching. If you need to round the corners of a rectangle, for example, it is quite a laborious process: firstly you need to explode the entity into 4 separate lnes, then break the ends to give a short space, then use the fillet command. Also be careful with the radius; I usually draw a trial circle that looks about right, read the radius, delete the circle and use fillet. This process is *much* easier in TigerCad, but A9 has lots of other advantages and it is free!

Really! I have researched several ways to use the fillet. And the best way to do fillet works properly is create a distance between the lines clearing the connection between their.
